Manufacturing books in the United States ensures compliance with strict environmental laws and eliminates the need for international freight shipping, a major contributor to global air pollution. And printing on recycled paper helps minimize our consumption of trees, water and fossil fuels. The text and cover of this book were printed on paper made with post-consumer waste. At Dover, we use Environmental Defense’s Paper Calculator to measure the benefits of these choices, including: the number of trees saved, gallons of water conserved, as well as air emissions and solid waste eliminated.

When you have done three or four lines and can reach no further, begin basting toward yourself with lines about 4” (10 cm) apart, creating a grid of basting lines all around the edge of the quilt. In order to reach to the center you must roll the quilt on the rollers. Diagram 6 Rolling the finished part to reach the center of the quilt must be done the same whether you are basting or quilting.
